Sam Dibas

Sam has lived in Newbury since 2001 and raised his family in Wash Common.

He has and is still working in Telecom, IT and various technology companies. Sam has supported the fight against Sandford from the start. Sam is a governor of Newbury College supporting the college and helping bring business and education closer.

He is a councillor in the Enborne Parish since 2021 supporting the community. He believes the Lib-Dem will drive a fairer stronger and safer community in Newbury Town. The Lib-Dems will get things done.

Sam is a keen clean energy campaigner. He has campaigned to get a Community Solar Farm in the Parish to get Energy Security for the community and drive the clean energy agenda with real action.

Jayne Lesley French-Drayton

Having lived in Newbury for over 35 years, Jayne is a retired senior executive with three decades of experience in telecommunications IT. She has worked extensively around the globe and influenced major industry developments benefiting both consumers and corporate customers.

As an experienced horticulturalist she is acutely aware of local environmental issues and is committed to bringing a no-nonsense pragmatic approach to delivering positive outcomes for the local community.

Frustrated by the inertia connected with electoral promises made by other political parties, she believes aligning with the Liberal Democrat agenda combined with her corporate delivery track record will provide a solid foundation to drive positive change.

Roger Hunneman

Roger has lived in the Wash Common area for 51 years with his children and grandchildren attending local schools.

He managed a group at the University of Reading researching infrared filters for use on earth observation satellites and planetary probes

Roger was first elected to Newbury Town Council in 2000 and again in 2003 and was a West Berkshire Councillor for Victoria ward from 2003 to 2015.

In 2019 he was elected to Newbury Town Council and is currently chair of the Victoria Park sub-committee and chair of the Canal Corridor Working Group. He is particularly interested in local renewable energy projects and looks forward to working with Adrian Abbs at West Berkshire Council on some Small hydro projects

Simon John Scott

Simon moved to Newbury in the late 80s and has lived, worked and raised a family in and around the town. His two boys went to local schools and with his wife he settled in Wash Common in 2009. 

He enjoys a successful career as a software engineer and is keenly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild.

He hopes to assist a Liberal Democrat-led Town Council in building further on its current success in developing a vibrant, caring, sustainable and welcoming community whilst preserving the unique character and heritage of the town.

Dr. Meg Thomas

Dr Meg Thomas lives in Wash Common and worked in Newbury as a GP. Her daughter attended schools in the ward. Following retirement, Meg served on Greenham Parish Council from 2016 to 2018. Here she was instrumental in achieving lottery funding for the final refurbishment of Greenham Control Tower, resigning from the council to be a founding member of the Tower’s Board. During the pandemic she was part of the local vaccine response.

If elected, Meg will listen and respond to residents' concerns. She will ensure the Town Council works with West Berks Council for a better Wash Common.

Tony Vickers P.hD.

Tony has represented Wash Common on both West Berkshire and Newbury Town Councils for the past 4 years. He’s fought against the Sandleford development since 2009, and is the local Lib Dem spokesperson on planning issues, where he puts tackling the impact of climate change front and centre.
