Petra Louise Larkcom Pemberton

Petra has lived in Thatcham for over 20 years and has worked in homecare, including 10 years for the Council. With her husband Justin she has two children who went to school locally. She belonged to their PTA and she is passionate about volunteering – especially with local childrens’ charities.

They are now foster parents themselves and believe all children need and deserve a fair start and every opportunity that families and a good local school can best provide. Petra believes that unless people stand up for their community then others outside will take key decisions that need to be taken as close to home as possible. To her, that seems to be what the Liberal Democrats also believe.

Stephanie Diane Steevenson

Stephanie Steevenson has lived in Thatcham for 33 years and while her two sons attended Kennet School, she was a School Governor.  She taught in Wantage, and in Newbury at the Castle School.  She served on Thatcham Town Council for 8 years, including one stint as Mayor.

Stephanie has volunteered for several organisations including Thatcham Royal British Legion, Berkshire Girlguiding, the Corn Exchange in Newbury and with Thatcham u3a.  Before COVID Stephanie chaired Thatcham Community Forum, the successor to the Neighbourhood Action Group, a group she was involved with from when it was first started by Thames Valley Police.  She would like to see the reintroduction of local Community Forums so that residents feel their voices can be heard.  Stephanie believes that Thatcham is a vibrant community and should benefit from local accountable decision-making for the benefit of those living here now, but always keeping the climate emergency in mind for those who will live here in the future.
