Vera Barnett

Vera Barnett has lived in Newbury area all her life. She trained as a nurse at Newbury Hospital and married one of her patients – later mayor Phil Barnett - in 1970. Three children and six grandchildren live in Newbury going  to local schools. Vera continued to work in nursing and home care.

Vera has been a loyal supporter of the Lib Dems and was elected alongside Phil in 1998. She served on the Civic Pride Committee. She has always been a supporter of local volunteer groups but also has a wide interest in travel to other countries.

Nigel Peter Foot

Nigel has been a Newbury Town Councillor since 2019. He worked as a specialist dentist in Newbury for 25 years and moved to live in Newbury in 2016. Nigel is currently Deputy Mayor of Newbury. He has chaired the Newbury Town Council Planning and Highways Committee for the past three years and was instrumental in setting up the Newbury Neighbourhood Development Plan Steering Group, which he chairs.

He is passionate about responsible, sustainable development in Newbury and believes this should be truly affordable and that it respects the heritage of our town and encourages biodiversity and our  green and 'blue' (water courses) assets.

Chris Hood

Chris has lived in Newbury since 2004 and has been a Clay Hill resident for the last 5 years. He works in marketing and is father to five year old twin boys. He is also an active member of the Newbury Society and enjoys gardening and cycling.

Ian Jee

Ian is a retired college Biological Science lecturer. He has lived in the Shaw Estate in Newbury for 6 years, adjacent to the Clay Hill ward of Newbury Town Council. Prior to this he lived for more than 30 years in the Village of Woolhampton, and was a governor and then Chair of the Board of Governors of the village primary school, and served for a number of years on the Parish Council.

Pam Lusby Taylor

Pam currently serves as link Newbury Town Councillor to both Fir Tree Primary School and Clay Hill Community Association (which runs Riverside Community Centre).

From 2017 Pam has continued to serve as a governor at Victoria Park Nursery School and Family Hub where she is a member of the Finance and HR Committee.
