Dear Cllr Graham Jones, Leader of West Berkshire Council
Following our complaint to West Berkshire's Trading Standards, we have been informed the Council have decided to appoint one of their own officers to investigate our complaint into the lack of information given to residents about the ability to pay the Green Bin Tax for just the spring and summer months for £25.
The officer chosen to investigate the complaint is also in charge of the council's legal department, which we assume would have been consulted on the information about the charge sent out to residents. The officer would, therefore, be investigating the advice given by their own department.
We, the undersigned, believe that the complaint should be investigated by Trading Standards experts. We believe it is not appropriate for West Berkshire officers to investigate the complaint and call on West Berkshire Council to refer the complaint to Wokingham-based officers. Failing that, Trading Standards officers from another neighbouring authority.
