Poll: Do you think it's right for a councillor to attempt to be an MP 30 miles away?

James Fredrickson, who is a Conservative councillor in Victoria Ward, has been selected to be the parliamentary candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon at the next General Election.

Speaking about the selection, Lib Dem councillor Elizabeth O'Keeffe said "It's a shame to local residents when their Newbury councillor wants to represent an area over 30 miles away. Subsequently giving most time and energy to that goal rather than being fully committed to the current constituents."
