Liberal Democrat Town Councillors in Newbury have launched a survey for businesses on the London Road Industrial Estate.
The local Liberal Democrat team are keen to understand how the proposed regeneration of the site will affect the businesses that currently operate on it. Businesses on the estate can take the survey online here.
Newbury Town Councillor Gary Norman said:
"I chair the Planning and Highways Committee of Newbury Town Council. Avison Young gave a presentation to us about the LRIE report they were developing just a few weeks before they were due to deliver it to West Berkshire District Council. It became clear that consultation with the incumbent businesses had been inadequate, and we were determined to remedy that."
Preliminary discussions with some business owners have confirmed that they knew very little about the regeneration plans, and they felt as though they had been left out of any consultation either by or on behalf of the Conservative run West Berkshire Council. As the results of the survey come through, we will report back the extent to which this is the case.
